Art

I grew up in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex.  In my teens, I was inspired by local artists Vic Ellis, Alfred Wood and Nick Peglitsis, and have been messing about with art ever since.  I have worked mostly with oils, pencils and calligraphy, but more recently have also enjoyed watercolours, line and wash and pastels.

Favourite subjects include boats, seascapes, landscapes and beautiful old buildings.I belong to Oaklands Art Club, an informal group that meets in Lordshill, Southampton, every Tuesday evening.

I painted 'Sailing Home to Dale' as a joint 50th birthday present for my dear friends, Phil and Isobel Brocklebank.  It shows their Wayfarer, 'Jim', sailing in Dale Bay in Pembrokeshire, where we have all been going on wonderful summer holidays for many years!

At present, I'm working on an oil painting of Salisbury Cathedral in the snow.  This one has been a long time 'on the stocks', but I'm making progress again now.  There is a lot of detail to get right.  My plan is to paint a snow-covered tree in the middle, but I'm still a little anxious about this....
